A local woman said her brother’s trauma in losing parts of both his legs and her own skincare struggles prompted her to start a business that offers pure beauty products.
Adriana Martinez Campbell, who has been an esthetician for 10 years, began doing research for her company about five years ago. She then launched ALINE SCOTTSDALE, a locally produced skincare line while she provides treatments at her business, ALINE SKINCARE Studio around 38th Street and Indian School Road. ALINE SCOTTSDALE products do not have toxins, fillers, artificial colors, artificial fragrances or synthetic chemicals. Martinez Campbell works with a formulator to come up with recipes for the products and uses homemade products on her clients when they come for facials and other treatments.
Her ARCADIA All in One Oil is an anti-aging day and night moisturizer, purifying cleanser and makeup remover all in one, designed with all skin types and conditions in mind to gently get rid of makeup and deeply cleanse congested skin. PHOENICIAN Youth Serum includes daisy flower extracts, aloe vera, Kadaku plum, Citrullus Lanatus (watermelon) and other ingredients. It aims to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and to make skin look fuller. PARADISE of the Valley is a 100-percent essential oil blend with oils designed to help the mind relax.
Martinez Campbell said she is in the process of formulating a product for amputees because of her brother, Eric Martinez, a scheduler and product fulfillment manager for the company, who also is a double amputee.
“He’s very sensitive to chemicals,” Martinez Campbell said. “When he was 23 years old we almost lost him to meningitis. He ended up losing both his legs. Half of his body has skin grafts. I started sending him concoctions. It started helping him. At the same time my clients were telling me they can’t find anything that keeps their skin hydrated. My passion is science. I’m also a registered dental hygienist.”
