Rosie’s House, a completely free-of-charge afterschool music program, is getting ready to serve more than 500 students—and it could use the community’s help.
The program that offers music lessons to students ages 7 to 18 years old is seeking donations of instruments through its “Play it Forward” campaign this month. Youths are given free lessons in piano, wind and string instruments, as well as mariachi training, choir and digital music lessons. Classes will start in September.
While at Rosie’s House, the children and teens will get mentorship, service-learning opportunities, college-readiness resources and a loaned instrument they can use while studying in the program.
Throughout this month, Rosie’s House is taking donations of violins, violas, cellos, acoustic guitars, keyboards and percussion instruments. The program also needs instrument accessories including violin/viola chin rests and guitar strings. New and used instruments will be accepted.
Donations may be taken to Rosie’s House at 1875 N. Central Ave. All donations are tax deductible. To learn more, call Rosie’s House at 602-252-8475.
