Programs help keep kids engaged in reading

Parents who want help in keeping their infants and toddlers book-engaged can find resources in the community, including the Phoenix Public Library branches, which offer regular weekly storytime events.

For example, the Acacia Library hosts a “DIY Storytime” 5:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2. Share books, stories, songs, rhymes and music in a fun, fast-paced program that will delight your little ones. This program is for children birth to 5 years but older children are welcome. This program is repeated at the same time on Sept. 16. The Children’s Museum of Phoenix offers storytime Tuesdays through Sundays at 1:30 p.m., during which museum staff gathers a crowd in every exhibit space to read books. The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is located at 215 N. 7th St. For more information, call 602-253-0501 or visit
